last car was cash. The way prices are increasing each year i highly doubt my next car in a few years time will be a cash purchase

Cash for me, annoying thing is that dealers get big incentives from finance houses so you don't get any discount for paying cash. But yeah, always cash if at all possible.

After many years of always having a monthly payment for a car, I bought this one cash and will never go back to a payment.

My first car was cash - already then old second hand Uno. I paid a big amount then gave the oke the balance for the following few months.

Second car was financed. It was not a good car, had issues, I didn't finish paying it off. It was a second hand Daihatsu. The thing was cursed.

My third and current car was bought new in 2013. I agree with the sentiment of paying cash, no balloons, buying second hand to avoid the knock, etc. However, sometimes a man just wants a new car without inheriting someone elses problem. That is what got me to that position. I wasn't earning much in 2013, so saving up for this car would have taken me a hell of a long time when I needed something reliable.

As my salary went up, I was able to pay off the car eventually.

My next car might be cash, but I really don't know.

never ever financed a car

from my 1st car to the latest

borrowed money but was interest free loans but never financed

last car we bought was full cash no borrowing

if you cant afford it dont drive it ..also too risky with finance

cash is indeed king, yes, you sacrifice a warranty and a service plan, but id happily trade that for not having a car payment eat a significant chunk of my salary each month

one was gambling at the auction another was gambling at webuycars both took some work, but even so costs were tiny compared to finance and insurance and fuel without factoring in depreciation of a used car especially a flashy BMW or Merc

TIL that when you buy cash, you apparently don't need to pay for fuel...

Cash obviously.

Imagine getting a fancy German or whatever ride & you're laid off 12-18 months later?? You will be schitting bullets.

100% Job security does not exist in our time, trust me I know & I know many people who thought this way & were burned badly.

Live within your means.

Technically financial plan, but paid off in 3 weeks. Only reason is that cash actually ends up costing more to buy new cars, as financed cars get "discounts".
So I put down a massive deposit, got a finance plan for 2 years, after the first deduction, settled the car. Ended up paying R1000 more than the price.

Did they add admin fees or penalties?
