South African Post Office reveals R71 million net loss

The South African Post Office (SAPO) presented an overview of its financial performance for 2025/26 in Parliament on Wednesday, 10 June 2026, revealing a net loss of R71 million.

That reflected a significant improvement over the R514 million net loss it reported in the 2024/25 financial year. It is also the lowest loss since its 2012/13 financial year.

The only good news from the post office we care about is that they can actually deliver ,mail and packages. Anything else is just a diversion!
👏
Exactly
Stop stealing and blowing smoke, and do we work we already paid for. Government serves the public, not we it. It it not a lord over us, despite what the fools in government think.

There is something grossly wrong with our institutions when they celebrate and brag that they have actually made a loss that is less than the previous financial year!
I would like to think that the reason for the declining losses in this case is because there are business practitioners running the PO and haven't quite learnt how to let the comrades feed!

We will have to have a public holiday if and when they make a profit...

exactly, 0% delivery R71m loss. I can also shut down my business and make a loss of this magnitude, in fact I just need R50m per annum.

WOW, the lowest loss in 13 years. A real achievement.
