Why Starlink has not applied for a licence in South Africa

Communications minister Solly Malatsi says the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has yet to receive any licence applications from SpaceX's Starlink.

ANC MP and member of the Portfolio Committee on Communications and Digital Technologies, Imraan Subrathie, asked the minister about the status of Starlink's licence application before ICASA.

Will this even happen one day??? Seriously?? Maybe when I'm 80 years old.... 🙆‍♂️😱🤪

B-E-E….. simple! Empowering a certain group, take money and run! Zero clue about business ethics’s

We will get GTA6 before the ANC let’s us get Starlink.

They gonna be even more jealous now that Elon's a trillionaire and they can't be through their BEE lol.

What they say on the outside and what happens on the inside aren’t always one and the same thing are they?
That’s a lot of words to not answer a simple how long question. If you don't know the actual timeframe, just say that.

The ANC wants 30% ownership as a bribe...Elon told them to go fuk themselves.

That is the reason and the only reason.
Remember that the 30% sounds pretty innocuous and benign. It is far worse than that of course.

Voting rights, inflated dividends, hiring of crap-tier friends and family, big pay rises, sucking up to unions - ultimately the 100% gets asset stripped and service levels sink.
