Movie Mini-Review Thread - Part IV

The Critical Drinker has panned this movie and a poor effort from Spielberg. However, I have learned to take his criticism with a pinch of salt.
He could absolutely hate a movie and I'd still watch it. One tedious persons opinion doesn't really matter that much.

TCD turns boring as **** when you realize it's the same old **** repeating endlessly telling you its kak when that was obvious from the start.

Simon McQuoid's Mortal Kombat II - 2026 • R • 1h 56m

The fan favorite champions — now joined by Johnny Cage himself — are pitted against one another in the ultimate battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.

Not for me/10 - Looks cheap and slap fights minus the thud:

I had to pause and check why I was watching a Marvel movie (due to ascetics, cheap look and feel, the rape of too much cgi) - the file name said Mortal Kombat II. Ok moving on.

So as it goes on, it's not even martial arts being martial arts but in fact thudless, weightless, with no sense of danger or gravity to it. It's just slap fighting. Yeah, this was not for me, worse than the previous remake, and it seems 1995 is still better in each and every way.

I miss martial arts being martial arts...

Look if you going to stick in a hairy pussy to make it R rated at least follow through and make the rest stand up to it.

Altered States (1980)

This didn't age very well; the story is a bit meh. I have no idea why all the characters were angry most of the time. 5/10

Goldfinger - 1964 • PG • 1h 52m

British secret agent James Bond must stop the powerful tycoon Auric Goldfinger from executing a scheme to raid Fort Knox and obliterate the world economy.

7.5 Smooth and slick

Now James is not given a suit case, but in fact his first "super car" and find me when I'm done with pussy thumbstick

The third film really smoothes out what has been seen/tried in first two - I think this so far is better in every way. However, this is also a lot more action orientated compared to them. You can't go wrong with pussy and gold finger...

A Wounded Fawn - 2022 • TV-MA • 1h 31m

A museum curator dipping back into the dating pool is targeted by a charming serial killer on a romantic getaway, where their weekend becomes a tense game of cat and mouse.

5/10 American pshyco short of artistic necrophilia.

Can't recommended for the simplest reasons that this starts good, gets limpy in the middle and then just self-destructs:

Initially it does seem interesting with its opening moments, the first kill and then we get to the cabin and well from there I don't what they tried but it just did not do it or work for me in any way.

Pressure (2026) 7.5/10

Perfect timing for this to drop, right off the back of the excellent World War II with Tom Hanks that I am loving. Film focused on the less commonly dramatized angle of WWII. Towering performances from Brendan Fraser & Andrew Scott. I'll go on record & say this is Scott's best role to date. Well presented with stacks of tense moments.

Iron Lung ?/10

This is quite the film... Sound is very important and plays a significant part.
I honestly have no idea how I feel about it, it is a taxing experience, leaves you with much to question and feels so different from the modern Netflix style films its like another world.

Voicemails for Isabelle (2026) 7/10

One of the better Netflix romcom in recent memory. Premise plays out well, good message & a solid amount of depth. I've always had a liking to Zoey Deutch & she is great in this. Bonus points for a well chosen soundtrack.
