Say goodbye to shopping malls as you know them in South Africa

Why bother going to the malls that charge for parking in tiny cramped bays? They may be entertainment destinations, but really only that.

I'll rather drive to Woodmead/Centurion (or Mushroom Farm if small qty) where the parking is free, easier to navigate and with a good assortment of shops -- either there or on the way to/from -- for what I need (eg Checkers/PnP/Best Before/Polar/Fleisherei/KEB/Woolies/Pet Store/Dischem/Food Lovers).

Maul of Africa (closest) is a waste of time unless I want iMax and maybe an eatery or something from H&M. Same for Fourways. I haven't been to Menlyn in over a decade and fear I will get lost there, from what colleagues tell me (not the same as when I was a teen/20's).

The smaller malls are just easier.

How much is the economy and pressure on consumers affecting mall visits?
I also agree with previous comments. Mall should be smaller and easier accessible. And free parking. I am supporting your mall and your shops. Don''t charge me to be there.
