Russo-Ukrainian War - 2022 Edition - Part 11

After the disastrous Iran war, Trump desperately needs a win. Hopefully we'll see better support for Ukraine now from the US.

There is the other side of the coin; Iran is now flush with cash and embargoes are being lifted and they have a deal in place - at least with the US - that prevents further interference in their affairs. There is a good chance that the cash, destined for ''reconstruction'', will be channeled into military spending and we could suddenly see a massive surge in Iranian--made missiles and drones on their way to Russia. Obviously Iran is going to prioritise firming up and restocking their own military, but they may have a little more toys to send to Russia.

Its actually an interesting tinfoil hat avenue if you wanted to go down that road.

You can't help Russia directly, but if you help Iran it helps Russia and we all know that Donnie wishes he could fellate Vlad.

I never connected these dots but it makes complete sense. Very disheartening realization. I hope that Hungary can fast track the process of unlocking the EU support that Orban was blocking.

If that's what you call being part of the supply chain, sure. Also, rubies in Cabo Delgado, diamonds and gold in Guinea, Liberia, CAR and Sierra Leone, iron ore in Swaziland, gold in Armenia, iron ore in Mongolia, sand in Cote D'Ivoire, etc.

You'd rather have Ukraine have no steel, or have to import it at eye watering prices, than allow them to smelt with available materials because you don't like where they come from? You should go make a turn there. People are still trying to get on with their lives, regardless of what you read on Twitter.
Im sure you give nice discounts to Ukraine :). All those other areas you mention are quite peaceful as well?

I'm not to worried about that for the immediate future. There is about to be a massive arms race in the gulf, where all the countries will be rearming and increasing their capabilities. The other gulf states will be buying up every spare piece of western weapons tech they can get their hands on. Iran will be busy trying to keep up for some time.

Iran has proven capable of smacking the other Gulf States with impunity. The US inability to defend their Gulf allies may also have consequences as to where those Gulf States spend their money on repairing and beefing up their own defences. So it is more a case of the countries around Iran needing to catch up beause they have now learned that Iran can walk all over them.

More aid for Ukraine

Belgium, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands announced new military assistance for Ukraine on June 18, including F-16 fighter jets, ahead of a meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told journalists that strengthening Ukraine's air defenses, including Patriot systems and anti-ballistic missiles, would be among the key priorities of the meeting, particularly as Russia continues its large-scale missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities.

Zelensky said that around 10 countries had expressed support for the new Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) packages.
