End of the Post Office's business rescue

The South African Post Office's (SAPO's) business rescue practitioners (BRPs) have filed an application for the state-owned company to exit business rescue at the Pretoria High Court.

The BRPs filed the application on 12 June 2026 and are awaiting a court date to have their application heard and obtain an order terminating the rescue proceedings.

How will the POST Office be funded ?
Or is it out with the begging bowl again,

Defies logic that it is even running at all.

Regarding its debt, more than 99% of creditors accepted the offer of 12 cents to the rand distribution, which amounted to a total payout of R1.105 billion to settle the Post Office’s historical debt.
“SAPO’s balance sheet improved materially, moving to a positive R840 million, from a negative net asset value of R7.9 billion, which rendered the organisation technically insolvent,” the BRPs said.

Who would of thought that only paying 12 cents to the rand to your creditors would have improved the Balance Sheet

Well, props to the business rescue practitioners, its a massive improvement for a company that was insolvent by the Billions.

Alas though, I have no faith that the next cadre will keep the improvements going.
