Cape Town's Eye in the Sky loses its wings

The City of Cape Town's Argos II-equipped "Eye in the Sky" surveillance project has been grounded after its service provider's contract was cancelled due to issues of non-compliance.

The metro officially launched the surveillance system in February 2024. Its quiet cancellation has raised concerns in some corners about transparency, costs, and the system's overall effectiveness.

No wonder I haven't heard the distinctive buzzing sound of the push-pull propellers of the Cessna 337 recently. Not much of a market for twin engined aircraft flying in circles...

Can't even use the SAPS Air wing, their aircraft are all grounded, and the pilots are probably busy driving big buses between countries, for better pay and less overall work.
