R5499 for a Nvidia xx50 gpu *shudders* And there you have the reason I haven't owned a new gpu since 2014... Good 2nd hand 3080 10gb's go for as little as R6200 or if you want more VRAM RX7700xt or RX6800XT's at around R6/7k or waaaay better options...

Why even comment this? A person going for an AM4 x3d would:

a) be buying the 5700x3d 2nd hand, or
b) be waiting for the 10th anniversary 5800x3d
c) not be buying an a520 motherboard
d) 2x16gb memory modules minimum right off the bat

e) why spend so much on new am4 X3D build now anyway? rather save a few months longer and take the ddr5 price up the a....

also..what paywall? the energy you need to scroll on the mousewheel/click the scrollbar arrow??

a) you could also get the 5500X3D at a lower price point since the point of the article is building a gaming PC around a set budget.

b) No, paying that much for a 'new' AM4 CPU is dumb.

c) To each their own, you can run an X3D on an A520 if you wanted to. Last I checked the *550 boards still held their value pretty well. For someone entering the market and not solely focusing on futureproofing the A520 is serviceable.

d) Not all people need 32GB. 16GB is still serviceable for someone mostly focused on 1080p gaming (probably the scope of this discussion)

e) This paywall.

a) Good luck still getting a 5500x3d new. The initial stock is long gone, might find the odd one selling at a huge markup somewhere. Most are 2nd hand now also.
b) Yep, hence why going for a new x3d am4 setup is dumb overall.
c) Again, x3d person usually wont be settling for a mere a520 stuck on pcie 3.0 that will gimp their gpu's in the future (or current if they're team green.. even though the impact isn't that much on x8 models yet, that's the mindset most has)
d) An x3d person wont be settling for 16gb be real. 1080p people usually wont bother with wasting money on parts that cant stretch their legs either.

Never seen that article limit before, even when i use the forums on other platforms without logging in.

NVIDIA and the LLM pushers are bragging about this. They're salivating over how your access to gaming hardware will be lifelong rental from them.
 
We built a gaming PC using Wootware’s PC Builder tool, which included an RTX 5050, 16GB RAM, a 500GB SSD, and even a Windows license for R15,088.

You can get WIndows for like R50 so can slash R2000 of the price already.
