MTN South Africa is developing a new solar park at its headquarters on 14th Avenue, Roodepoort, Johannesburg.

The cellular network giant also revealed plans to deploy solar PV systems across 23 data centre facilities nationwide, which it said were part of its net-zero commitment by 2040.

Yes, there are huge numbers of servers and equipment running in these switches, which is why they are often called datacentres. Obviously not as large as their main centre at HQ but large enough to require a small solar park to generate enough for them.

I've never been in the main centre at MTN but I have at Vodacom. It is huge and I'm sure they're comparable.
