Shooting down a drone in South Africa could land you in jail

If I have my daughter and grandkids over and they swimming in the pool at my place and there is a drone buzzing overhead it'll come down.

Sometime flying things just collide with other flying things....

I think they mean, they don't want the public policing the drones. Thats fine but also who is policing the drones ?
I was on the mountain the other day and two guys where flying and it wasn't nice to have the buzzing overhead for most of the time. How would you even go about reporting something like that.

So, it seems that if you want a drone, now would be the right time to buy one. It can be safely assumed that within the next year the regulations will make buying one almost impossible.
 
Let's see how this plays out. I doubt the courts will have the same view of a drone spying on your private property. Our regulations were never updated specifically to include drones.
 
That's fine. But then there should be a legal way to get rid of the drones in a timely manner. If not, well then unfortunately people have to take matters into our own hands.

why do people think that drones are used to snoop on naked people or for any unsavoury purposes?
People fly drones for fun and great scenery footage
 
I think this is a case of just hasn't been tested in court, and the judgement would be based on totality of circumstances. Issue is that you'll have to pay a lawyer to get to that point, though you'll probably have society groups that will help pay for it.

I'd also be worried about disabling it causing injury to others, if over own property and crash would land in your property, I think that you can probably get away with arguing it to higher courts.
 
Yeah, all these big shots with their shotguns at the ready have no idea how easy they'll be to spot via the goggles. I'll be out of there before you can get your gun out!
 
My drone that I flew way back then, flew to about 100m up in the air. Dis ****en hoog, to the point you can't see it. I usually flew about 10, 15m in the air, on my private property, away from the airport, public road.

So, basically said, you cannot fly a drone in the city then? Public roads everywhere, including buildings, unless permitted to do so, with explicit permission?

Yeah, what about that stalker or someone using a drone to scope out some property for break-in?

I regularly get unintended wireless interference everywhere, so theoretically, what keeps me from building my own "jammer" to try and protect myself from the drone?
