R45 billion petrol price pain for South Africa

Did you know most of SA's refined fuels come from the UAE, which still had a functioning export and refinery port on the Eastern side of the country. not affected by the choke point at all. So ships going in and out of that port had no higher risk than usual throughout the conflict. And the US blockade only blocked ships sailing to and from Iran. Which is not the SA supplier.

Furthermore UAE is no longer a OPEC member, so they can sell fuels to SA for dirt cheap if they want to. OPEC no longer regulates their pricing.

Angola imports its refined fuels just like SA does, their pump price for ULP never passed ZAR10 per litre retail throughout the conflict. Go figure.

The Middle East conflict is not the main reason the SA consumer is being worked through the ears. Despite appearances.
