SABC issues warning to anyone with a TV Licence in South Africa

These scammers message me almost every day telling me I have to pay thousands for a TV license. They even have the nerve to tell me they'll blacklist me if I don't. Fortunately, I can spot them a mile away...
 
south africans are targeted daily with scams . we know already .

this morning i got an sms from 'buffalo' couriers saying i owe R18.99 in 'fees'
 
Anyone who possesses, uses, or rents a television set or any device capable of receiving a broadcast signal in South Africa is legally required to have a valid TV license. This applies regardless of whether the TV is used to watch SABC channels, used for gaming, or not used at all.

Yes, a TV license is a license to possess a TV, not watch SABC. The SABC just happens to benefit from it.
 
Well, anybody stupid enough to believe the SABC has any funds for refunding people probably deserve to get scammed.
 
It's just better not to have a TV licence.
