Fidelity says drones, helicopters, personnel and APCs are ready for 30 June protests

A question : why would anyone state upfront that R600 million is available? Who are they trying to impress? Surely any trouble should be dealt with promptly within the normal course of police duty? I think they lie like their feet stink..
I've always wondered why its costs anything in the first place. Don't we pay the police already? Do we have to pay them twice or what when they actually do something?

We had to buy ammo and petrol for this...

They should take a page out of the WWI flying aces playbook. Drop bricks and lawn darts onto the crowd from the choppers and drones.

If anyone claims it's inhumane just scrawl "rubber brick" on the side of the bricks.
You'll have some foreign NGO taking us to the ICJ and Constitutional Court at the same time.

What are drones and helicopters going to do? The police don't even have rubber bullets.
Pepper spray from above raining on them doesn't sound like a bad idea.
Even better, don't make it a spray, make it a liquid so that it has more weight to reach it's target.

I'm talking about who actually defended their homes and businesses, that was the Minibus and car guard guys,
maybe even a few petrol station attendants as well.

everybody else, including the boys in blue were hiding under the bed afraid the bad rioters will make them fill in forms

You must be living in some alternative reality SA, cause communities and security companies defended their neighbourhoods and taxis and such defended malls and there was some crossover too between the groups in my SA.

Not a bad idea. Like crop sprayers spraying insecticide. Do you think they have enough time to order from alibaba?

not denying that, but isnt that the police job and maybe even the military? why did minibus taxi guys and car guards have to defend themselves and others during those times,

where was the 600 million from the government and private security? where were they hiding?
hell some shops got creative and poured cooking oil all over the tiled entrance of their shops to prevent looters coming in.

I mean they knew private security and the police are bloody useless and wouldn't protect them,so they looted all the cooking oil on the shelves and used it to defend themselves, medieval style.

Exactly what I am talking about, would take care of a mob in an instant.

If it's allowed to be used then the security industry already have it.
There's your answer then. It's not allowed. If it was then we would probably have these things:

Private security was protecting The Pavilion.

Why do they need drones. You are not supposed to fly them beyond were you can see them. So the operator should be on site anyway to keep an eye on the situation.
