What are everyone's employers saying?
Was asked this morning. Truth be told I just do not know.
Currently we are still going to be normal operation, and we are in industrial area with township across the way.
Watching the WhatsApp business group to see if other business will er on cautious side and take the day.

Hopefully like 2021 the unrest isn't so bad in Western Cape. So far it seems it's been a lot calmer. Stay safe mate.

Long story short; We must be vigilant and cautious, avoiding any trouble, otherwise business as usual.

I am in the Germiston area, which has its issues with foreigners and violent mobs (the Germiston Home Affairs branch had their offices petrol bombed last year). If I see a mob, I am turning around and going home.

Businesses where my dad works (Benrose and surrounds) were warned to close by the local hostel leaders.

Stay home & hunker down. Not worth the risk venturing to work they said. Also, stock up on dry foods, toilet paper and water.

I will oblige.

Ramaphosa sends a warning about the national shutdown

President Cyril Ramaphosa said the government won’t allow anyone to destabilise the country, following a series of xenophobic attacks and anti-immigrant demonstrations.
He won't allow it? Like he's already allowed it, and allowing it right now?

How easy would it be to just go arrest the leaders of every protest organisation and hold them until 1 July? I mean I know it might require SAPS to do some work on the weekend, but still.

Or maybe just put up some police checkpoints across major arteries, and stop buses of protestors not going anywhere in particular on 30 June?

Or maybe go on TV with some immigrant families, standing alongside them, and admit that a major reason so many are undocumented is because Home Affairs takes over a year to process even basic applications for foreigners, and VFS fees are exorbitant (over R5000 for some applications for these dirt poor foreigners)?

How much longer is the media going to tolerate this rhetoric from our politicians, while we literally walk off a bridge as a country?
