The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) plans to use its free-to-view streaming service, SABC+, to get more people to pay their TV licence fees.

Presenting the broadcaster's third and fourth quarter performance before Parliament on Friday, 26 June 2026, CEO Nomsa Chabeli said the SABC had already launched the pilot project in this regard.

Three former SABC executives have been ordered to repay more than R11. 5 million that was unlawfully paid to Hlaudi Motsoeneng as so-called “success payments” nearly a decade ago. The ruling is seen as a strong step in holding individuals accountable for misuse of public funds.
