SABC secret weapon goes from zero to over 2 million in under 2 years

The South African Broadcasting Corporation's (SABC) free streaming platform, SABC Plus, far exceeded its user registration target in the fourth quarter of the 2025/26 financial year.

Presenting to Parliament on Friday, 26 June 2026, the broadcaster revealed that the streaming platform had grown to 2.15 million registered users, exceeding its annual target of 1.4 million.

Seems like they're determined to stay in the spotlight... just in case we change out minds out of "guilt" and pay maybe?
 
“People generally don’t believe they should have to pay for services. It’s not unique to the SABC. We see it with electricity, with water, etc. So we need to understand that there is that culture,” she said.

No - people don't want to pay for junk they don't use. I'm happy to pay for water, electricity and roads - I use all those.

Might have something to do with the ANC promising the people free water, electricity, etc. in the early days.
 
Germany and The Netherlands lost they World Cup matches and I am not okay. Hopefully England, Sweden, Portugal and Norway make it through. I am not counting on Spain. Argentina is definitely making it to the finals because of that little midget called Messi. The rest of the countries can go fly a kite for all I care.

This is me not paying attention to anything SABC related.:rolleyes:
 
Somehow in the future the SABC is going to try and force a levy on these SABC+ users, this will be their "new" license fee.
 
I don't understand why anyone who can afford the cost of mobile data for streaming would choose to waste it on streaming SABC+.

So much so that you didn't even needed to register before as there was no DRM on the streams you can just play it on vlc. They added DRM to SABC3 now.
 
What does "gameify" mean, uou pay your TV license, and get 5kg mielie pap and 5 packets of soya mince, free?

Not that nostalgic - even if I had time to amuse myself. No if it was "The Villagers", or Biltong and Potroast, or that Namaqualander, chappie, who told amusing stories, I would be interested.

I think he'll be on / was on DStv again sometime, they featured him or similar in their highlights. Maybe if you go drink cokes in the afternoon at your tavern..
