Suspended Deputy Head of Crime Intelligence Maj-Gen. Feroz Khan has been hospitalised after being shot in a suspected targeted attack in Houghton on Sunday night, just days before his appearance at the Madlanga Commission.

According to preliminary reports, two unidentified gunmen travelling in a white Mercedes-Benz opened fire on Khan before fleeing the scene.

Investigators recovered at least two spent bullet casings, while reports indicate Khan suffered gunshot wounds to his lower body.

He was rushed to Netcare Milpark Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

The shooting comes at a crucial stage of the commission's investigation into allegations of corruption, drug theft and the illicit precious metals trade.

Crime Intelligence’s Feroz Khan shot in attempted assassination, police deploy ‘maximum resources’

Embattled Crime Intelligence officer Feroz Khan has been the target of a shooting in Johannesburg, which police are investigating as an attempted assassination.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) said early on Monday, 29 June 2026 that Khan had been shot in Houghton – where he has a home – during the previous evening.

The police did not detail the extent of his wounds, but Newzroom Afrika reported that he was shot twice in the abdomen and was in a critical condition.

Nah, not fishy in the slightest.
Just a whole lot of coincidences. Give the poor man space to recover...

She told her she had “received a message from an unknown person” that “Khan had sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and that his laptop and cellphone had allegedly been robbed.”

The report states that an eyewitness told Kubheka that “while driving along 3rd Avenue, he noticed an Indian male lying on the road with his legs still inside his vehicle. Initially believing the man to be intoxicated, he approached him.”

“The victim identified himself as Feroz Khan and informed him that he had been shot in the abdomen.”

The eyewitness then contacted Vision Tactical Security, a company that worked closely with Khan’s anti-kidnapping unit in Crime Intelligence.

Yaseen Theba, the director of Vision Tactical, told News24 on Monday that security companies and emergency providers received a number of calls following the shooting.

However, Theba said that the passerby did not directly contact Vision Tactical as mentioned in the report.

He said:

The passerby mentioned in the report contacted the house on the same street [where he had been visiting], who also contacted the control room.

The report states that Khan had been driving a grey Suzuki Baleno, not the armoured vehicle he is known to have previously used.

He was also alone, not with the security he is also known to have travelled with.

The report states that “no bullet holes were found on the vehicle”.

“However, a projectile impact was identified on the road surface, and two spent cartridges were recovered,” it states.

Didn't he go for haj not so long back?

Guess his prayers didn't work so well after all

None of these genius level prats in the state or their lugenpresse think it strange that a cop, a functionary in the civil service, has a fleet of Ferraris and several mansions. Dumbest nation on the planet.

Indeed. Scores of my investment banking and asset management acquaintances can’t shut up about their desire to get into heroin and dodgy tenders.
