Just imagine if Ai can take the championship this year, to be the first ever Japanese rider in the premiere class, now that would be something. It is possible, and the way the Aprilia is performing any of them should realistically take it, but Ai is just on better form in recent races.

Then Yamaha should really get motivated and pull their fingers outta their ar$$es and provide a bike to compete next year, otherwise another talent will be wasted. Jorge and Ai duo should be good for Yamaha. :cool:

He's been riding Iike shite. Cant blame anyone else but himself. Whether the bike was built around another rider is also a topic I guess.

He had a good run though.

Given what Vinales has said in the press recently about KTM, I would be staggered if he retained his seat. Him bleating about loyalty to KTM (having ridden for three previous teams) also smacks of hypocrisy. Marini, I don't know. I don't think he's an inherently better rider than Brad. Maybe being Rossi's half brother and the marketability that brings is a factor. *shrug*

Anyway, guess the writing is well on the wall now. It has been fun while it lasted. We'll always have Brno and Styria...

I agree that he hasn't covered himself in glory but I struggle to believe that he became a bad rider over the course of the past few seasons. For so long he was a thorn in Ducati's side. My other argument with that is that the other KTM riders are not exactly covering themselves in glory as well. Vinales and the Beast are proven race winners and have at one point or another been in championship contention. Suddenly they are also floundering on the KTM.

Acosta is a freak and would put any bike at the sharp end. So while as a rider, your first comparison is to your team mate, being held to the same standard as Acosta is a tough ask for any rider and 99% of the grid would look substandard compared to him.
 
He went backwards like Fabio. Bagnaia is heading the same direction.

It was Brad, Bagnaia and Martin at one stage, now it’s the Aprilia show.

So the Beast has been confirmed to go to Trackhouse. Good move for him.
 
Joan Mir has been confirmed as the second Gresini Ducati rider, and all the Gresini mechanics just dropped their heads while the Honda mechanics are throwing a party...

An interesting possible scenario developing. Johann Zarco still hasn't gone under the knife for his injuries sustained in the Barcelona crash and is not scheduled to any time soon as apparently they have to wait for muscles or something to first heal before they can cut.

Depending on the severity of the injuries and the extent of the required surgery, he may be forced to retire. This will mean a vacant LCR seat, possibly meaning either Marini goes there and Brad stays at KTM, or Brad jumps ship to Honda.

Still all speculation at the moment, but if it materialises, Brad could yet find himself with a 2027 ride.

The loyalty between Brad and KTM may have hurt him. He has only ever been on a KTM and now he is struggling to ride it. The other manufacturers have probably looked at this, considered his age, and it possibly raises questions whether he can adapt to or ride anything else.

I'm hoping that there is a lifeline in WSBK.

On the Binder and superbike stuff, Darryn is having a helluva time in the US, currently leading the MotoAmerica Supersport Championship. Josh Herrin is a two-time Superbike champion in the US, winning the title in 2024 and finishing 2nd last season before moving down to Supersports, so Darryn is up against an experienced rider.

Of interest, Kayla Yakov is only 18 and is considered one of the best young prospects on that side of the pond. Curious to see how far she can go. Darryn has had a couple of battles with her and she knocked him off of the podium on the last lap of the season-opening Daytona 200.

Factory Aprilia team really faltering while Trackhouse is soaring... great for my man Ai Ogura.
Championship still tight, and hopefully Marc won't go on a run to spoil things.
Although Silverstone should be Aprilia territory.

I feel since Masimo started talking kak his team's performances have suffered :ROFL: Really impressed with what Brivio has done with Trackhouse - pity about the rider merry go round
