Five key findings from the Constitutional Court's Tafelberg judgment

"The Court ordered both the Western Cape government and the City of Cape Town to submit detailed reports to the High Court outlining their affordable housing programmes for the Cape Town CBD and Sea Point."

Uhm. What exactly do they think CoCT and WCG have planned in a fully built up city to accommodate the poor masses?!!!!!!!!!!!

Some plan like:

Ve will confiscate private apartments and turn zem into low cost units for ze poor.
Den ve will reclaim more ocean and change to dry land for a new township next to ze waterfront.
After zat ve will turn Green market square into a little mini slum for ze poor as well as ze evil company gardens.
And finally our grand plan is to turn the eyesore of Tablemountain into a huge housing complex...

Now if the ruling reinforces the province's principles,, why did they fight it all the way to the Constitutional Court?

It's all about WHERE the housing is built. Constitutional court expect the poor to have prime property in CBD very conveniently close to jobs.
Utopia!
Wet dream world!
Lekker lekker!

Because @TheChamp won't believe a word coming from a DA MEC, so they went to court to prove it to you! Happy now?

You sure they weren't dragged kicking and screaming to court?
No, no. It's only the Zulu clan that go into theatrical overdrive when faced with the law (Like burning the country to the ground). The rest face it like responsible citizens.

This is all good and well but whats to stop the recipients of the "affordable" housing from just selling the property in the near future at going rate. The market determines value not some other arbitrary determination.

Many Jewish people are kicking up a huge fuss, some are trotting out the anti-semitic claims, they bought this huge property for the bargain price of R135 million and now it’s all slipping away, it must be worth an absolute fortune now. That being said R135 million is a lot of money to just be sitting in limbo for 12yrs, if the sale is finally nullified will they get their money returned with 12yrs of interest?
its a massive piece of land

Why is it not a school now?
the land and structures was owned by the city.
there were 2 previous schools on that site - who later amalgamated.

tafelberg school then came in and leased the property
tafelberg school later relocated - the site has remained unoccupied.
coct then put it up for sale - and it was purchased by a jewish school.

then the dispute arose to what we see now.
the property was never used for residential purposes - the existing building on the property dates back to 1900

Do these low IQ "housing activists" understand that no-one has a "right" to live in an area? What kind of bollocks is this?
it goes a little deeper than that
there are multiple pockets of land in the area previously owned and occupied by non-white ppl.
then during the great cleansing purge, they were forcibly relocated to the outskirts of the city - as was the case with district 6.

however, the land in question back in the day, was not occupied for residential purposes, nor ever occupied by non-whites for any purpose

Why didn't the city keep it a school? Too much hard work for the DA? If it was sold to a muslim school, would we even be in this situation going to the commie court?
