Group behind world's biggest pirate anime streaming sites arrested after making R208.3 million

A group of seven men who are accused of creating over 100 pirate websites, including HiAnime, the world’s most popular anime pirate streamer, have been detained by authorities in Vietnam.

Investigations revealed that from 2020 to April 2026, the group uploaded more than 26,000 illegally copied and unlicensed films without the consent of copyright owners.

Of course they are right, any attempt to actively monitor customer data streams would be a massive violation of the constitutional right to privacy, guess government will just have to use the systems it already has in place to monitor communications in the country.

“As South Africa’s official Internet Industry Representative Body, ISPA accepts that there are some forms of illegal content that access providers may be obligated to block,” it said.

“However, ISPA is adamant there needs to be a well-considered legal framework in place that respects the constitutional rights of South Africans and does not hamper the ability of ISPs to serve consumers.”

Correct, but keep in mind he is talking about block access to content, which would be actively blocking specific sites, not monitoring what people are doing.
