Not really, physical media is actually sold at a loss but I guess none of the fake ragers did the math... let me pull example
I find that statement strange. This excludes the losses incurred by secondhand market.
At this point it feels like you are getting paid by Sony. If not they must be loving the free marketing.

But fake rage...
I get the sense they are going to remain firm on this decision, but hey who knows anymore. What if all this Physical media is just a decoy for them just to finally kill off PS3.
Last time they tried shutting PS3 store people toy toy'ed like there was no tomorrow. This time round not much is being said about it.
Once everybody forgot about the PS3 Store, they'll act all good guy and say we hear you, and Not killing Physicals anymore.
Guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Not all physical games require an internet connection.
It's the reason I don't buy Destiny.

Data from the massive internal Insomniac Games leak shows that 31 out of 33 PlayStation first-party titles sold more physical copies than digital copies.
Sony's public financial reports frequently highlight that digital transactions account for roughly 78% to 85% of their total sales via digital in 2022 which they now claim is 95%.
The leaked internal documents reveal that single-player, narrative-driven blockbuster games heavily favor physical disc purchases.
• Uncharted 4: A Thief's End: 83% Physical
• Sackboy: A Big Adventure: 77% Physical
• Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart: 76% Physical
• God of War Ragnarök: 76% Physical
• Demon's Souls Remake: 70% Physical
• Marvel's Spider-Man+Miles Morales: 66% Physical
• The Last of Us Part II: 61% Physical
Public metrics calculating high digital volume pool together free-to-play titles, microtransactions, DLC, PS Plus games and digital-only games.
Because roughly 85% of the PlayStation library consists of indie or digital-only titles, it skews the broader metrics.
When a major game is offered in both formats, consumers heavily buy discs and Sony doesn't include how many times a disc is activated on a different console/account.

The viral PlayStation “physical vs digital” post is misleading.
It mixes older leaked first-party sales data with Sony’s current platform-wide digital sales reporting, then uses that mismatch to suggest Sony’s public numbers are fake.
Here is what the sources actually say.
Sony’s FY2025 Supplemental Information says the PS4/PS5 full-game software digital download ratio was 78% for FY2025 overall and 85% in Q4.
- Sony is not publicly reporting “95% digital” for PlayStation full-game sales.
Sony defines that ratio as:
“PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 full game software units sold via digital transactions” divided by “total full game software units.”
That means this specific metric is about full-game software units. It is not simply counting DLC, microtransactions, or PS Plus subscriptions as game sales.

Reports on the leak say the sales table covered Sony first-party PS4/PS5 titles as of February 27, 2022. That makes it an older snapshot focused on specific PlayStation-published games, not a measurement of all PlayStation game sales today.
- The leaked Insomniac/Sony data being cited is not a current platform-wide PlayStation sales report.

For example, the reported leaked figures showed several major first-party games with much lower digital shares than Sony’s later platform-wide digital ratio:
- The leaked data does support a narrower point: many older PlayStation first-party blockbusters sold strongly on disc.
Uncharted 4: 17% digital / 83% physical
The Last of Us Part II: 39% digital / 61% physical
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart: 27% digital / 73% physical
Demon’s Souls: 34% digital / 66% physical
Sackboy: A Big Adventure: 29% digital / 71% physical

For example, God of War Ragnarök is sometimes listed as part of the leaked February 2022 data. But the game released on November 9, 2022, so it cannot be part of a sales snapshot dated February 27, 2022.
- Some versions of the viral post include games that do not fit the dataset.

So, the accurate takeaway is this:
Yes, many older PlayStation first-party blockbusters that had disc releases sold a large share physically.
No, that does not prove Sony’s public digital sales numbers are fake.
The leaked data and Sony’s public reports are measuring different things. The leaked figures are an older first-party snapshot. Sony’s public digital ratio is a broader PS4/PS5 full-game software metric across the platform.
The viral post takes a real point — physical sales remained important for some major PlayStation first-party games — and turns it into a misleading claim about Sony’s overall digital sales reporting.
Well that about sums it up then.
Draw a line under it, Sony was lying to make their announcement more acceptable.
Lol rage before common sense.Well that about sums it up then.

Well... theLol rage before common sense.
You should get some Sony sales reports from the 2000s, it will show 100% physical sales. RaGe SoNy'S LyInG!!!!!!!!!!!!!
