From stereo systems to washing machines, what is the oldest piece of working tech or appliance in your house that you refuse to replace?

Hmm. Good question.
Oldest is a VHS VCR from the 1980's. It still works however I do not use it (obviously).
Oldest in daily use it an old LG microwave that probably causes cancer.

Does a Cadac gas bottle count?

Don't really have old stuff. Probably my Samsung microwave has reached about 10 years this year.

The ancient LG SolarDOM. It keeps on running.

BUT, I have many retro things that are still alive, though non are daily drivers so not eligible to consider.

Notable mention is the DeFy tumble dryer, old as thocc, but keeps on thoccing.

There is nothing quite like a pass me down, that keeps on giving. Some old hardware were well-built which is odd given that modern electronics are better designed, but who know, maybe our grid aren't all that too messed up.

I spoke to a company a while ago. The networking equipment that they have to replace... yikes! I have old Mikrotik boards that works like new. Only one, I had to replace a cap, and it still works. Some people I know are burning through expensive routers, and I have no idea how...

My dad's telescope and astophotography equipment. I think he got it around 2005 or 2006.

The is mostly working, in that it can still align and track, but one of the three focussing encoders stoped working. Have a project to fix it with my own electronics.

I have a Thorens TD 124 MKII turntable in my house and I love it.

The Thorens TD 124 is an iconic, Swiss-engineered transcription turntable introduced in 1957. Originally featuring an innovative hybrid belt-and-idler wheel drive, it was prized by radio broadcast studios for its precise speed control and heavy platter. Today, it remains highly sought after by audiophiles and collectors.

I have a Kelvinator fridge that I got more than 30 years ago. When I got it. it was my grandparents old fridge from the farm. So no idea how old it actually is. Must be 40+ years. Its not my main fridge for the last 20 years, but is standing in the braai area and always on with cooldrinks, extra milk, whine etc in it.
I replaced the thermostat myself about 15 years ago for R90. Thats it nothing else.
