SA Politics Thread Part 13 The Days of Madlanga

Must be election time.
The ANC's mouthpiece News 24 is in full swing.

Question @ News 24
Are these people paying for Municipal services or squatting on land that was not meant for housing?

Since they are speaking of sewers it must be formal settlements, don't you think?

It's odd that there could be this much failure in services considering the city spends 70% of its budget in such areas.

MyBroadband doing its part to protect the DA from bad publicity, instead of using Malatsi's picture, they went for Aunty Pat.

It’s because:

Former public works minister Patricia de Lille announced the plan in the National Infrastructure Plan 2050 (NIP 2050), published in March 2022.

So using her picture is perfectly fine. Also why would MyBB protect the DA? This is nothing to do with them (yes I know they have a minister in this sector) but this is about the government. Not the ANC and not the DA. But the government. I know. It’s a hard concept for you and the ANC - but in most countries party and state are two separate entities.

3 million? Is that really how many? Jasus thats a boat load. Are there any actual numbers of how many immigrants live in SA? My dad is an immigrant( legal i will add) so im not judging, but yho if theres 3 million Zims that could mean what 8-9 million more from elsewhere? Ive never met a local SA uber or uber eats driver ill tell you that much lol.
There are legal immigrants, many of whom doing well for themselves. Then there are illegal immigrants. Sadly, many resort to crime to sustain themselves and their families.

There are also pockets of illegal immigrants doing their best to earn honest living

Very interesting that Daily Maverick hasn’t run a single story on the latest DA misinformation campaign. Suddenly they found their journalistic ethics? It’s too convenient. News24 happy to publish any nonsense to get as many clicks as possible, DM usually does the same.

Maybe it’s just a matter of time, or they have read the writing on the wall and realize who their new masters are

There’s too much service delivery to see touch and feel in Jozi. Her time is better spent in the service delivery vacuum of Cape Town 😏
PP missing an opportunity to get a whole lot of glory without even trying. I mean, Joburg really would be easy pickings. Wonder why she doesn't jump at the opportunity?
Treasury moves to freeze Joburg funding

Easy pickings for the PP in Gcebera
Rubbish piling up in Gqeberha

31Billion Rhondts disappears into thin air

And we could post examples of Muni's failing to provide even the most basic of services all day long for the next week.

But Capetown are maladministeringaficating! because they haven't built enough low cost houses in the city for poor people who just pitch up and demand!

There's also Emfuleni who continue to thumb their noses at the courts
Emfuleni back in court over Vaal river pollution
It's also called whataboutism, the PP has made findings against other municipalities, including Emfuleni, I never saw you or anyone going on the whataboutism crusade.

The only problem here is that she dared to touch a DA municipality, that should never be done.

The goalposts have shifted slightly. Here is the commitment made of eradicating All pit toilets in schools by March 2025.

The DA ministers fast learning that shouting from the opposition benches and actually governing are two different things.

Well, if you can't identify pit toilets, you can't eradicate, right ? You can always go easy on identifying part.

Suppose she goes where someone worthy reports and she deems an investigation politically expedient.
So, I looked up that screenshot and this relates to this investigation below.

Now I wonder if PP had annual roadshow in Gauteng/Jozi at all. And if she did, is it hardly probably that no one in Alex/Diepsloot etc complained.

I get it... it's whataboutism when one isn't bringing Tshwane, Hammanskraal and Brink into the conversation. ;)
Seriously though, considering the absolute disaster that is, and has been pretty much every muni across South Africa for over a decade, shouldn't we be critically evaluating the job the PP has been doing and what that office chooses to focus on? There really are much bigger disasters than CoCT that the public needs protection on... disasters that have been ongoing for ages.
The PP isn't doing the office any favors by seeming to ignore the very real fskups people are experiencing daily in favour of a politically expedient toothless finding that will have zero impact for the public at the end of the day (even more so in light of the disaster that was the previous PP)
Let's face facts... nothing seems to come of PP findings at muni's. Maybe the PP office should focus on making sure people are held to account on findings before moving on to whatever is the political flavour of the month.
