Same. But sometimes you have to do it to kill unproductive noise. You can always undo it when this topic dies down. This particular person argues for the sake of arguing and being controversial. Probably to compensate for his effeminate voice...

Point is, I took out those unknowns in the scenario I presented to you. You had to invade Japan to end the war. Or drop the bomb.

You would drop the bomb in those circumstances, as you said.

Oh okay, then, in your super simplistic and unrealistic scenario then yes, I would have dropped the bomb to prevent the deaths of American soldiers.

Do you have a link perhaps? Every link I can find says they he specifically authorised both Atomic bombings (after consultation)

Yep. As they say, history is written by the victors, but it seems even the victors can't agree sometimes.

Most probably a typical politician's ploy of playing wait and see. Don't authorise it, in case it goes pear-shaped, then when it ends WW2 he claims the "credit".

This is what I understood - He didn't really understand what the implications were and didn't get in the way with what was already in progress.
