Cool Ideas Fibre ISP – Feedback Thread 6

Hi there, apologies for the delay, not sure how I missed this.
This could indicate a poor connection to the exchange. I do also see your fibre levels have changed recently from around -24db /-21db to -27.5/-26.5db, so this could be the reason why.

If you are not getting any performance impact , then I wouldn't be too worried, but I would recommend logging a ticket so that Vuma can improve the Fibre levels a bit
Thanks for the info, I see Vuma is here just outside my house and the internet was down for a bit and now it's back up. I didn't log a ticket so I guess they picked it up on their own, but now that it's back up it's not flashing orange anymore so I think they must have fixed it. Out of curiousity would you be able to see what my current optical levels are? Thanks.

Still seems to be a bit bordeline, at -27.7dB/-25.9dB compared to where it was before, but as I look at it again, it was around -25.5dB/23.2dB in March, so must have slowly worsened over time since then, and was as good as -24.6dB/-21.9dB back in Dec 2025

But again, if you don't notice performance issues, then I wouldn't be too worried, but within the next few months it may need to be improved again.

Hi @PBCool and @CoolEscalator,

Just wondering if there are any updates on the possibility of offering static IPv6 prefixes? If so, would this be an additional paid option, or would it be included for customers already paying for a static IPv4 address?

Also, I'd like to mention a bit of a pain point with the current prefix delegation. It seems that whenever a PPPoE session reconnects (admittedly not very often), a new IPv6 prefix is allocated rather than reissuing the existing one while its lease is still valid. Since most networks prefer IPv6 by default, this largely defeats the purpose of having a static IPv4 address, as any firewall rules or remote access configured against IPv6 need to be updated whenever the prefix changes.

Would be pretty Cool if I could be added to any IPv6 testing groups if you're looking for volunteers ;)

Hi there, this is still something we are busy testing at the moment, as its unfortunately still not very high up on the priority list.

I will follow up with the team though, and check what the latest updates are

IPv6 has been rock solid lately. The only real hiccup was during that international outage when the v6 prefixes weren't being announced, which threw up some strange behavior, but it looks like that’s been sorted out.

Peering is also excellent now everything is handing off locally or at the closest peering point. Before, a lot of IPv6 traffic was unnecessarily routing international instead of staying local, but it seems completely resolved.

I've got v6 enabled across all devices now, and looking at the logs, a massive chunk of my day-to-day traffic is running over IPv6.

Thank you for the positive feedback! We're still working on getting all the peering up in KZN though, but for the most part V6 is available there now as well . Home stretch :)

Anyone been having some issues loading websites tonight?
Earlier in the evening there was 5 minutes of some heavy packetloss in Cpt.

IPv6 has also been working great for me as well, I think one piece of the puzzle that might still be missing for me is LINX peering, I dont think iv seen any IPv6 traffic route via LINX, but DE-CIX in Madrid has been working with IPv6.

I had some problems earlier in the evening as well. Vumatel CT. Was buffering on Twitch and then had some fail loads of sites so i had to reload them.

Do you have any contact numbers. Your website hangs and the help option just goes to 404. Going back then takes you to a different page status - this is just before ordering 5G. How well has website been tested?

HI there, apologies for any inconvenience caused.
The "Talk to us" section has our contact information, Ticket logging and phone number.
The phone number is also at the map section

When I click on the "help" menu , it doesn't seem to lead to a 404, it takes me here Https://coolzone.cisp.co.za/knowledgebase.php, to our knowlegebase page.

If you are struggling, our email is: [email protected] for order related queries.
[email protected] is our support email/

Please let me know if you need anything else.
