Sociology professor says some parts of South Africa still experience power cuts that last up to 12 hours a day

Mountains of debt but I guess supplying power to the areas with illegal connections and no intention of paying is more important.
Let's cut power to those who can and do pay instead. Let them go off grid so we end up supplying power only to those who can't or won't pay for the power.

We knew this all along though. As soon as they slowed down on LS they said they would only enforce it in municipalities that were not paying... and they implemented load shifting in a few places.

Was sociology your major?
You know you can just say "yes" and move on .... right?

I mean, you blunder around like a drunken uncle interspersing discussions with random comments about your insane hatred of everything you consider "leftist" or "elitest" or whatever other wackadoodle bogeyman it is that has you in a tizz, with no reference to the actual topic, then get all miffy when you get called on it.

Is this normal? Sane?

So Eskom still bad?
Yes, they ignore the bad places and just focus on the low fruit of phase one instead of making GP and KZN phase one instead of phase three, clearly they are in no rush. Also, who is paying for these 6 million meters? Is that 6 million times R15k, because that is the reconnect fee for you and me.

They outlined a multi-phase timeline to lift the frequent power cuts. Phase one targeted low- to medium-risk feeders in the Western Cape, Northern Cape, Eastern Cape, North West, and Free State.

Phase two aimed to drastically reduce the overall national load reduction customer base to roughly a third of its peak.

Eskom said the final phase would aim to achieve the full eradication of load reduction in the two higher-risk provinces with the highest electricity theft rates: Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
