I have a D Link DWR 720/PW Wi-Fi phone which I bought from Telkom when I got rid of my old land line for a fiber line to keep my old landline number. Over the weekend I guess the kids must have messed around with it and activated the screen lock and now I can’t get into the phone or use it at all. I’m not sure if there’s a standard password but I can’t find anything in the manuals or if they maybe changed the password, does anyone know if and what I could try as a standard password or is there a way to do a hard reset which don’t require me to have to go into the menu? I found a video on YouTube showing a similar model phone where they hold the #hash key before powering on the phone, which I tried but it don’t seem to work on the one I have.
I tried asking for help from Telkom but we all know how that turned out, they just said I must buy a new phone which I honestly can’t afford right now, and find it pathetic to have to do just to get past a screen lock.
Please any help will be enormously appreciated!!

Hmm, factory reset is the only option, but locked into the menu as well (from what I can gather from the manual)
Have you tried the default pin of 1234?

Thanks I just found the 1234 password in the manual as well but my luck it wasn’t working which means the password was changed.. I know the old Nokia phones like N70 etc before android didn’t have the “hold * and # etc reset or to get into the root menu, there was actually a method of bridging legs on a chip which allowed a hard reset or a flash, I’m even willing to go that far if I can just find out how to do it. What’s funny is on YouTube there’s videos on a very similar D link phone where they hold the #hash key and power the phone on to get into a root menu/reset the phone but it don’t seem to do anything on my model of the phone.
I’ll keep searching the internet and check back here to see if someone maybe knows of a method to do it, there must be some way to do it considering it’s a android device..
Thanks for your help and reply anyway, I really appreciate it!

No problem, I hope you have a solution to this.
Next time, set the password, and write it down on a sticker, and stick that sticker on the inside of the battery cover, in-case you forgot. Will also keep the kids from re-activating the lock with no known password.

So I just wanted to let you know that I got the phone fixed with the help of technical support at D-Link. I emailed them telling them about my problem so they said if I’m in Centurion area I can take the phone to them to flash it for me, or they could send me a guide and links to the software and firmware downloads which I then asked for as I’m in Cape Town. They replied both times within a hour or 2 of me emailing them, I downloaded the software and flashed the phone which was so simple to use I didn’t even need to follow the guide they sent me, and phone is now 100% again and not asking screen lock password anymore.
The software they gave is even able to flash and do firmware install to any other android devices as well and got a whole host of features like changing boot pictures, sounds, sim unlock etc. so getting in touch with D-Link was a massive benefit, I have to say their customer service was the best I’ve experienced in a very, very long time if not forever, Telkom should go get some training and tips from them on how to work with their customers!!
