I'm trying to register my system under eskom free 50kw waiver.
I'm currently on a Landrate conventional plan. Eskom promises free account change and smart meter to change to Ruraflex.
The person assisting me now says that the change to Ruraflex has to be done before the SSEG registration. I think it should be one action.
They send me a quote for R36k for the change, and wants a new security deposit of R120k for the new account. They din't even consider the R22K Deposit they already have of me.
A deposit should be calculated on usage, and my last 3 bills were between R7k to R8k.
From Eskoms website.
13.2. Metering charging conditions
13.2.8.
Customers will not be charged a tariff conversion fee when switching from a non-TOU tariff (like Landrate or Homepower) to a TOU tariff (such as Ruraflex or Homeflex) for the purpose of integrating an SSEG.
a)
This applies only if the application is for the tariff change alone and does not include a change to the Notified Maximum Demand (NMD).
“The extension means that all registration and connection fees including a free smart meter (up to R10k for urban/ residential customers and R36k for rural customers), are waived until 30 September 2026 for Eskom customer solar systems up to 50kVA,” concluded Mlambo.
Please give toughs and assistance if possible.
