yeah could be that as well, I do see that this is a Openserve line, so not sure which NLDs they use from East London,

But the latency does seems to around a constant 28-32ms after pinging their IP, which is not too great
There is a Openserve Exchange in Beacon Bay, not sure if this is related or relevant at all

well atleast i acknowledged that i might just be talking nonsense
So as an explanation, pops/exchanges typically needed to be quite close for the distance limitations on copper. So now you have fibre PON terminating at those exchanges or at street level cabinets.

From there it will use the backhaul and longhaul networks which is where you are picking up the additional latency.

Hi packetloss to where? Can you post an example?
it dropped to 15-20 after redialing pppoe, but now i'm sitting at a constant 10% packet loss :crying:
mine seems to come in waves, it's there for a few minutes, disappears, then comes back
Yeah, I monitoried your IP since last night, and its quite bad,
Will add it to your ticket, but I see our team logged it with Openserve already.
Definitely looks like something broke on the backhaul somewhere

On the other hand, it could also be line saturation, I see your usage is quite high, were you downloading something large yesterday/overnight? As a 30/30 can get congested quite easily if you are a power user @heartbreakhotel
I see alomost 200GB usage I total in the last 20hours or so, which could also explain the packet loss and high latency I'm seeing.

Yes I decided to download all the updates and what not last night, but this morning around 11-12, there was packet loss even with it not being fully utilized. I did submit an upgrade for 50mbps though. I will leave it tonight so you can test again if you would like that?

I have been playing Apex and noticing AWS transit to be quite terrible recently especially in the evenings. I play CS and my line is fine but still went and monitored it during Apex but was seeing loss. What made me sus of my line is i would have but my friend did not at the time but all my traces are clean and so are other games

openserve upgraded my package to 50mbps, when i restarted the router this morning i was back to 30+ ms to cape town, i redialed pppoe again and it was back to 15-20ms, it seems okay now, just the odd ping spike every now and then1783852255267.png

Its entirely possible with their MPLS backhaul that its load balanced via multiple routes. So one day you take one route and the next the other.

This would be AWS transit related unfortunately, have you tried the VPN to bypass?
Have you heard anything why AWS is doing this? happening again. or its just this again @bHOLDher how are you running ?

That trace isn't AWS... AWS would pickup stuff locally. I stopped playing Apex 30 minutes ago and had 0 loss
Yea i know, I have had 20% loss for 2 hours...

Using VPN has zero loss but like 230ms.

Are you in CPT?
