What's The Deal With Smoking In Pubs?

To all the Karens who carry on about smoking in pubs please be warned.
Don't drive in traffic, behind big or small trucks and some cars that belch out that dirty black smoke.
Avoid driving past squatter camps especially during winter and last but not least stay away from charcoal braais.
They are all very toxic 🤣
Thank you for taking my advise.PS I am a smoker 🤣

Yes we can tell. Typical attitude from a **** smoker.

And the word is advice, not advise.

Because it's your liver not the people around you.

A better analogy would be "imagine going to a pub to drink and then not being allowed to vomit all over the people next to you."
You still have no control over what the drunk person next to you says and does...

I use the A/C recycle button.

Well I read that title differently, was gonna say you need to stop whatever is making that smoke.

You can lodge a formal complaint with the city's health dept. I did that against a restaurant once, with pictures. The owner pulled the wrong attitude when I asked him to tell people to smoke outside, so I did 'the right thing'. The municipal official let me know they were fined R10k. ......and that is what people with the wrong attitude get......was so easy to have followed the law and the restaurant would have served us 6 friends a meal and drinks on top and prospered in stead rather than losing our business and earn a fine for the wrong attitude.

I bet you're fun at parties.

Absolutely no data to back that up. For the 10 regulars who keep it “afloat” they probably lost hundreds of potential regulars over the year who wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole. It’s like hanging out with the wrong crowd expecting the right girl to come along. You lose more than you gain. Don’t underestimate just how much non smokers dislike second hand smoke and nicotine stains. Smokers are the minority by a margin.

30% of people smoke here in ZA, and that pub specifically already has a loyal regular following. The owner would have switched to non-smoking ages ago if he thought that would be more profitable.

How about a vegan, non-smoking, alcohol free pub & grill?

Seems it could be a thing, going by the comments. :sneaky:

When I want to drink and smoke the occasional cigarette and play some pool, I go to a pub. When I want to go out for a nice meal, I go to a restaurant.

I haven't seen this in years, at least not while living in Cape Town.

It's pretty simple though, if you run a business you have to follow the laws for operating a public facing business. Sure you can choose to ignore those laws but I won't have any sympathy for those who get fined for this. It's really easy to just step outside and smoke there instead of hotboxing the building.

What in tarnation? How do you even equate those three? Spot the odd one out.
Leave me alone. It's my Sunday go Karen day. I'll be back tomorrow in my normal form.

Seriously: Exactly. You can't unless there is bias.
