Do you want a free VPS? - Always free - from Oracle

Oracle always free arm instances have been decreased to 2 OCPUs / 12GB ram from the original 4 OCPUs / 24gb ram

Interesting... I wonder if they will auto zoink it from my server? Still seems OK so far

Is this retroactive? In other words, will my VPS be downgraded?
Not sure.
I'd assume that, for free tier accounts who are over the new limit, the instances would get shutdown and/or terminated.
For PAYG accounts, they'd just get charged for the extra 2 ocpus / 12gb of ram.

According to reddit, the new limits come into effect from the 15th of this month (take it with a grain of salt, there's no supporting evidence for this date)

URGENT!:

FYI - I just saw on the Oracle cloud subreddit, that Oracle has halved the free tier requirements for Ampere.

It's now 2 cores/12gb ram per account.

PAYG will be billed accordingly starting from the 15th, and free tier will have their instances shut down.

EDIT: I see it's already mentioned here, I just downgraded mine.

Pfft, as long as I can continue running my Ubuntu install with two docker containers, I should be OK.

Downgraded my oracle instance just in case as I am on the PAYG account now.

Obviously doesn't compare to a free vps but PulsedMedia is also having a low-cost sale. 2 EUR for a seedbox/vps if anyone wants.

I haven't received any notification from Oracle about this. I'm assuming if they are downgrading the existing accounts, there would be some notification from them. I wonder if this change is for new accounts.

Got some time to play over the next week. Two projects I'm adding to my VPS:

1. I'm setting up an email archive, pulling all of my emails older than five years out of my Gmail and hosting them in a searchable format on the server.
2. Replacing Google photos with Immich
