Its a Global trend and SA might be more complicated with our history but the DA / ANC is not unique.

Declining Trust in Representative InstitutionsA major 2025 study published in the British Journal of Political Science (analyzing over 5 million respondents from 3,377 surveys across 143 countries from 1958–2019) found that trust in representative institutions — parliaments, governments, and political parties — has declined significantly in democratic countries since 1990.
  • Trust in parliament fell by an average of about 8–9 percentage points.
  • Trust in government fell by about 7–8 percentage points.

One of the reasons I call DA anc lite, they sure love their taxes.

Anyway, its not a dilution of the vote. Its not like FF+ is best buddies with the ANC.

At least whites have a party that appears to represent them.

Us coloureds dont have any decent picks. FF+ should go after the Afrikaans speaking coloureds.

Honest question here, and I dont mean to generalize based on race, but how is Gayton viewed by coloureds in general? I get the idea that some like him but many/most dont trust him one bit.

From my analysis of ward by-elections, urban (and perhaps more educated) coloureds aren't the biggest fans of Gayton (for example, none of the 'coloured wards' (hate that term but it's the best way to describe it) in Cape Town have been won by the PA. Rural coloureds (who are typically less educated than their urban counterparts) on the other land love Gayton's coloured nationalism.

Around 10-20 cents per rand (or less) reaching actual service delivery/infrastructure, with the rest lost to waste, salaries, debt servicing, fraud, and corruption.

It's probably worse than that in reality.
Believe it or not, even more taxes is not the answer.

So all the damaged/missing infrastructure will be replaced magically? Through... what mechanism do we imagine,

My point was, whining about how much the repair/replacement costs is peurile. Nothing is free. The whole idea behind taxation is we all fund it - collectively. If the costs go up, the funding must go up.

Nobody said fiscal responsibility wasn't part and parcel of the sytem. Well, the cANCer did but TIA

Personally, I dont consider him coloured, he is more like Trevor Noah, his father was half Irish half Japanese, his mother Sotho, he was raised by his mother. His surname is from his Irish ancestry.

He decided to go for the coloured vote by claiming to be coloured and understanding the coloured people issues.

I think he is as skelm as they come.
