The quickest way to lose your driver’s licence in South Africa

Is the correct answer 'give it to a corrupt traffic cop at a routine checkpoint and don't have money for a R200 bribe'?

The WTF is strong.

Driving an unregistered vehicleR1,0003
Driving a vehicle without a valid licence discR1,0003
So failure to display is the same as having an unregistered vehicle? Should an unregistered vehicle not be impounded and you go to court?

Driving without a licenceR1,2504
So it's OK to drive without a licence? No arrest, no court, and you get four demerits counting towards your 15 point licence suspension... wait, what?

What is funny is if you do not have a license, how do you get the demerits? You don't have a license, it doesn't say failure to produce a license, it says driving without one. Also technically they could stop being lazy and just check enatis for your license.

...but this helps nothing if they're going to keep ignoring the offenders. How many times have people not asked for them to investigate an intersection or piece of road where "Taxis" do their own thing, yet no traffic official ever comes to the scene.

...but NO, lets set up a speed trap, sit back and let the "machine" do the work.

I would like to see how they even enforce most of these, given how successfully they've been doing it in Jhb...

I mean, this has been on the drawing board for almost 30 years and sure it made sense 28 years ago, hell even when it was deployed in JHB... But yeah no... You actually require policing for most of these and that is what doesn't exist.

Taxi's are exempt from everything, seen the rare occasion when a cop has tried and other taxis suddenly stop and surround the cop car.
