Amazing how Amazon can navigate our regulatory framework before launching a service and Starlink still struggles.

And BTW - I don't think our regulatory environment (including BEE) is more difficult than a South African company trying to set up a telecoms in the US. They have some nasty restrictions of their own.

So much for "non-racialism" in terms of the Constitution. The argument goes that ignoring race would simply freeze the inequalities of the past. Truly, it has done the opposite, and has made everyone but the cadres poorer. Which they likely view as success. Let's see how temporary the "redress" laws are. The government's argument is something to the effect of: As long as there are a majority of poor black people, the measures should either remain in place or increase. As long as they keep black people poor, by design, those measures will have no end date in sight. Why would they want to uplift the people that put them into power, who they then become accountable to, when they could simply steal and then point the finger at others?

You have to wonder how much of that R365m EEIP winds up financing the businesses of friends and family of connected cadres.

Worth noting that Starlink offered to fund an EEIP worth R500m to connect 5000 rural schools. The more cynical among us might observe that that particular EEIP model would make it harder to extract cash than Amazon's more ambiguous "enablement and acceleration program".

the ANC are racists, always have been and always will be, they aren't interested in supporting their fellow people,

they interested in taking as much as they can, like anywhere else and promising the earth while delivering almost none of it.
Starlink vs amazon Leo just goes to prove this, its all about how much you can give me while not looking like a bribe.

if they could take Cyril to Disneyland and make it look less suspicious, they would do it.

Back in reality, not really. EIP is achievable by Starlink just as Amazon has done. The frequency allocation requires the license which is the real hurdle, thats where Herotel and its cousins enter.

What is the point (am I really asking this question when we al know answer) of investing in some empowerment fund while those that need it simply can not buy it.
Like him or not but Elon's offer to provide 5000 kits is much better deal.

why do people believe this nonsense when it was never about EIP or empowerment or equity or redress,

Wonder if the idiot running the country realize that Elons network is much bigger and still crosses the country on a daily basis whether they like it or not. Is the kill switch their only objective in all this.
