South Africa has 8.1 million unemployed people, so why can’t businesses find the right skills?

Perhaps if they looked further than their prompt, they'd find that most of the time, those doing the hiring are so full of BS and want a unicorn

People are unemployed because they don't have skills that are in demand.

The fact that there are unemployed people doesn't mean there are skills going begging.

Another issue is idiots in HR or recruiting agency.
They looking for skill A but you state you have skill B (which includes skill A) but because you don't check the box on their list of skills they are looking for you never get to the person who actually knows skill B includes skill A

I'll tell you why:-
Companies don't like entitlement
Companies don't like dishonesty
Companies don't like being held back because of strikes

Companies want good honest hard workers who want to work their way up in the company and are not lazy and demanding.

"did I just say this"..........

They also don't like middle-aged white males.

That problem could easily be fixed by allowing companies to test for IQ, which for most entry level positions will be far more relevant than matric pass rate, because it doesn't depend on you having access to the right schools.

Exactly this!

People are unemployed because:

They have zero education
They did not finish primary school
The did not finish high school
They did not get a tertiary education
The got the wrong tertiary education

But mainly they are unemployed because the economy is fukked and "creating" jobs is only a political buzzword and not actually a real "thing" in economics...

The only viable sense of 'creating jobs' is what naturally happens in a flourishing economy. And maybe a government interested in functional infrastructure that allows people to actually get to these jobs.
