Why Joburg’s traffic lights don’t work – And Cape Town’s do

Traffic lights, in particular, have become a serious issue, as they are frequently targeted by criminals looking to steal the valuable wiring and components to sell for scrap.
To me, this is a load of bollocks. Criminals just cut down the poles, nothing more. Also when poles and run down by accidents these felled poles and cables will lie next to the road for weeks before they vanish.

This "vandalism" has to be coordinated by the contractors supplying and installing these systems.

Incompetent criminal mafia thugs that only know how to loot vs Competent officials that only loot the money that is left after spending it on services
