Starlink launches in 27th African country before South Africa

SpaceX's satellite Internet service Starlink has launched in the West African country of the Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire), its 27th market on the continent.

Starlink is offering two uncapped Internet packages for home users, both of which can be accessed with its Mini or Standard dish.
 
You got to hand it to our Gov they played the cards perfectly...

1. Create a racial reason for Starlink not to come.
2. Get support from the people not to support Starlink by driving racial propaganda.
3. Make deals for another platform they will benefit financially from.
4. Tell the people that platform is not the evil Elon Musk coming to bring Apartheid back...
5. The people all support it and get a half-baked solution that cannot compete with Starlink which they are super happy about. Govt members get their payday...

I'm actually surprised they didn't beg the Chinese for huawei solution.

Huawei is extensively integrated into South Africas critical infrastructure. They got it much cheaper too - a small price to pay for free data for the Chinese!
