Big upgrade for people renewing their car licence discs at the South African Post Office

The South African Post Office (SAPO) is rolling out new point-of-sale (POS) devices at 610 of its priority branches, which will be available to customers seeking to renew their vehicle licence discs.

The Post Office said that the rollout was part of an ongoing modernisation programme for its branches, where it previously supported payments with cash or card swipes at selected branches since 2019.

I have no frikken clue where the nearest post office is that does license renewals near me.

Have used the NaTIS renewal for three years now, super efficient.

“Using electronic communication channels, including SMS and email, motorists will receive secure, legally served notices with improved speed, efficiency, and traceability.”

Why is the Post Office even involved in this, all electronic, distribution service?

It was so annoying. I had to pay duties for a parcel, and had to use a physical card, and actually put it into the machine. No tap-to-pay.
