Roelf Meyer wants to stop President Donald Trump’s Afrikaans refugee programme

Well it isn't difficult for the ANC to end it. It's not like what the US is asking is unreasonable.
Trump said that South Africa is confiscating land and mistreating certain classes of people. “The United States won’t stand for it. We will act,” he said.

1) Recall the expropriation act.
2) End the use of race in public policy, like BEE, AA, quotas etc. Focus on current poverty instead.
3) Publicly condemn the singing of Kill the Boer and refuse to go into any coalition with parties that don't condemn it.
 
I can understand making submissions to the Trump administration to state the government's point of view, but to deliberately target the refugee program is petty, probably futile and a direct assault on the people who do not feel comfortable living in South Africa.

If those families feel that they can't make a life for themselves here, for whatever reason, let them go. Why try to block this?

Because it is an existential threat to ZA in multiple different ways.
1) It is a tarnishing of the ANC's international reputation. The more light is shined on it, the more people stop listening on channel 1 of ANC propaganda and start listening on channel 2.
2) Having large diaspora in the US who absolutely hate the ANC is going to start influencing US elections once those diaspora become legal citizens. They will start demanding their congressman take action.
3) When those congressman take action, you could see a formalisation of the program that sets out to destroy a country like SA by offering something that doesn't have the negative connotation of the refugee thing to its middle classes. Call it the taxpayer visa or something like that, as target it towards people who are not super wealthy, but are huge net contributors.

Put in your usual things about no criminal record, no affiliation with any anti-US party, offer permanent residence and initial help with getting people settled.

This wouldn't just be for ZA, it can be for any country that has a progressive tax system and pisses off the US.
