This is exactly what this type of law should be used for and basically every country in the world has one.

How is this even news. Unless the word Expropriation was thrown in there to trigger a sensitive audience.
Land has been expropriated for the public good for decades. Schools, harbours, roads etc.
Our own family had their entire property expropriated in the 50s for a new school, much to their dismay and sorrow.

I'm wondering if Soweto and Mamelodi can afford the ticket prices. So if the prices are too expensive then what is the point of all this expropriating if the trains are empty and our people use prasa train instead for R8 a ticket.

Is it normal to have 2 different train services or do we only have 2 because they ****ed up the first one?

I do work for the city of Cape Town. They need to expand the roads for bus routes etc. They will contact the owner of the land and work out compensation, subdivide and expropriate . Its been done forever and is nothing out of the ordinary. People just hear expropriation and think the government is going to take your land

The plans repeatedly refer to a Randburg station in phase 1, yet it doesn't appear in any of the planning docs that go into depth on the other stations. Hmmm...
