Thoughts on Delonghi Magnifica S Cappuccino

Hi Guys,

My boss offered me a used Delonghi Magnifica S Cappuccino Bean to Cup machine today that he's had for 10 years or so, but he takes care of his stuff. I've been looking for something better than instant coffee for a while now but just didn't have the budget.

I think he said it's only at 2000 cups made or something which I think is pretty low. He's asking next to nothing for it, apparently he had some professional built-in machine installed at his house. Think he's preparing for the loss of the office machine since he's retiring in September.

Anybody have some thoughts on this machine, any good? And if so please recommend some beans because I'll probably pick it up from him after work.
 
Not familiar with that specific machine but Delonghi make a decent machine which puts out consistent coffee. Dont skip the maintenance routines to keep it working well.

Beans wise, not a coffee snob myself. I go with typical broad rules, organic fair trade stuff. Cafedirect Machu Picchu is a favourite.
 
Very good for the price. Very cheap to maintain too. Wouldn't pay more than R2,500
 
Phew, taking this from your boss makes it awkies if something is wrong, you can't ask for a refund easily.

Considering you can get brand new Bean to Cup machines from R6 500, I definitely don't think you should be paying more than R2 500 now.

Just make sure your boss gives you the milk frother and included tamp and portafilter, and there aren't any missing pieces. With old machines like that, it's usual to have some cracks and things just lost over the years.

All handwritten by yours truly, not a whiff of AI was used. Have we gotten this far lost that we now think anybody writing in full paragraphs online is automatically using AI? My excuse is I'm a professional writer and work in advertising.

Oh that's true, just proves it wasn't written by AI, that was entirely my mistake. I was thinking about the milk container or steamer not being included, and just went too far for a bean-to-cup machine.

It was the kind of nuance AI often doesn't often understand...
