Lol happens all the time, but the taxi associations have their own impound lots too. One of our H100 drivers got the vehicle impounded by the taxis because he decided to give someone a lift.

Think there's a 30 something day time limit within which you should be redirecting the fine to the driver responsible for it..

Eventually RTIA can also get a warrant of execution and impound or sell your car to cover unpaid fines and administrative costs..

Most of that will be struck down by the court's as unconstitutional.

It's the perfect loophole. Every large company just appoints one person to be the Representative for ALL their company vehicles. Then that person racks up all the demerits and his licence gets cancelled. But from then on all the companies vehicles and drivers are exempt from demerits. And all they have to do is appoint a chauffer for that person.

In my case it's great, because my wife drives one of the company vehicles. She can drive me around on weekends and holidays. And the company chauffer drives me around during business hours. And both of them can drive however they want to, because all the demerits will come to me.

Why am I forced to go with? I only need her when I want to go somewhere.
But these days everything is 60/60 anyway.

Well that's the thing, it's never ready. But the ANC always just steamrolls ahead with its plans. Exactly why NHI is now dead in the water as its biggest mechanism it relied on has been declared illegal.
 
Yeah this is a problem. Over and above this, some offences will end you up in court and may leave there with sentences, criminal records, demerit points and more.

  • OUTA says government should never require civil society to submit a PAIA request to understand how they exercise their legal rights
  • RTIA has provided OUTA with details of the AARTO Appeals Tribunal following OUTA's proposed urgent court application.
  • While this removes one of the grounds for urgent relief, it raises serious concerns about government's transparency and communication with the public.
  • OUTA questions why the Tribunal's members, appointment process and appeal mechanism were not proactively disclosed before AARTO was implemented.
  • OUTA will continue challenging aspects of AARTO and has launched a broader investigation into the Tribunal and the implementation of the amended legislation.
