Meili Logistics accused of inflating customs duties on AliExpress, Temu, and Shein

Same same. . Buffalo is awesome!
I literally chase Buffalo of my work premises.

From a business point of view and all the complaining bitches about Meile, they “ were “ quick and efficient and you get the package as soon as it went through customs “ at a cost “

But I guess it’s our nature to complain about everything.

No, our nature is just accept being ripped off and move on while mentally justifying what happened in our own minds. It's the biggest reason business is so predatory in this country.

I think the issue is that they mostly try to pass the blame on customs when its actually them filling their pocket. If they charged the correct customs/taxes and rates and then loaded 30% on top as a processing fee it would be different, but its much easier for them to try get the end user to thing that customs is ****ing them, which they are not.

It's also that when you buy on AliExpress, often it's labeled as free shipping, then just to be knocked with often exorbitant processing fees when it arrives. You no visibility on this. Where as if it arrives was SAPO you know exactly how much you are going to pay when it arrives as they charged based on unified HS codes.

Ideally it would be great if you could pick shipping between local SAPO (knowing that it may take a bit longer) and private SpeedAF/Meili where you will be charged a premium (who knows how much) for it arriving faster.

Or maybe we just had a better post office service like most first world countries, then we wouldnt need this type of ****.

But one can only just dream !!

This service could still exist even if the SAPO delivered in one week.
I mean everyone around the world knows that if they buy from Asian markets and rely on the your cheap local postal service, it can take months.
That being said, I bought a product in the US over black friday, it took 1 month until the product left the states via USPS, so I am not sure where this "first world" postal service exists.

What's the need to be such a knob when these guys are clearly ripping people off?!
Because people now want to ruin it for other because their order of 7 items from 7 different stores on Ali now charges them 7 x TAX/VAT/QQ fees...

They actually are "were "very good at what they did, communication was good, delivery was good - I can accept that "service "can be costly ( added extra ) but Jirre !! now I get message from some poepol from SpeedAF or Buffalo buffoons saying they made an attempted delivery at 11pm and night and now I wait another 2 weeks because I wasn't there at midnight to collect my order?!

Edit: My gulikit sticks where ordered and eventually arrive within 1 month with using speedAF - they actually didn't end up delivering the item - I had to contact Ali directly and the store ( Aknes Store ) got the Courier Guy to go fetch it from Comair.

If SAPO delivers it at all. No thanks. I'll never choose them if I have a choice.

Can you ask AI to try make sense of that gibberish and then repost it?

Morning,

Sorry couldn't reply as I was adulting yesterday, as per your request please see below:

"Ruining the experience for others" refers to actions, behaviors, or words that destroy, severely damage, or diminish the enjoyment, pleasure, or positive atmosphere of an event, situation, or activity for other people. It often implies that someone's selfish or inconsiderate behavior has made an experience unpleasant or unworkable for everyone else involved.

Key aspects and nuances of this phrase include:
  • Spoiling Enjoyment: It means taking away the pleasure of a shared experience, such as loudly talking in a movie theater, bringing a bad mood to a group dinner, or spoiling the ending of a story.
  • Act of Spite or Selfishness: It is often characterized as a "spoil-sport" action, where one person acts out of selfishness or spite, sometimes without directly benefiting themselves, but causing discomfort to others.
  • Damage to Atmosphere/Context: It refers to altering a positive, neutral, or exciting situation into a negative one, undermining the joy, anticipation, or value of the event.
  • Exaggerated Usage: On the internet, it is often used in an over-the-top way (e.g., "That one mistake ruined the whole series for me"), which is rarely meant seriously but still communicates that enjoyment was lost.
  • Common Phrases: It is similar to "spoiling the fun," "damaging the mood," or "being a spoil-sport."

Essentially, it is a complaint used when someone’s actions negatively affect a group, making them unable to enjoy an experience, often causing annoyance or frustration.
And
Why Service Quality Matters
  • Customer Retention: High-quality service leads to higher satisfaction, fostering loyalty and reducing churn.
  • Reputation: Consistent quality builds a strong brand reputation.
  • Competitive Advantage: Superior service acts as a differentiator in crowded markets.
  • Word-of-Mouth: Satisfied customers become brand advocates, driving new business.
Lastly
"QQ" is an emoticon representing crying eyes,

  • Cry more
  • Whine/Complaining/Bitch Moaning
  • :'( or T-T (emoticons)
  • Chewy/Bouncy
"Let It Go" is the signature song from Disney's 2013 animated film Frozen, performed by Idina Menzel as Queen Elsa. Written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, the song represents Elsa's decision to stop hiding her magical icy powers and embrace her freedom, accepting her isolation in a frozen landscape.

All AI'd for you buddy !!

Have a lekker Friday

Regards,

I ordered 14 total electronic parts for a project from a single store (I made sure to use the same store.)
4x are the same item, and another 5x of another item.
The 4x part was split into 2 packages, and the 5x item was split into 3 packages. FROM THE SAME STUPID STORE.
Now, Melli want to spike me around R200 each, with slight changes R200-R215 based on how many items are in the package.
I get that Melli adds a fee here, but this split has really shafted me, considering the value of the order was only R1400 in total to begin with, but an extra R1000 for delivery is taking me for a fool now.

Yup, I bought 5 small items from one seller and it was split into 5 different packages.

According to the seller, it's aliexpress warehouse that does that.

Mission to pay each separately. Probably inflated customs and a service charge on each separately as well.
Ridiculous

Until enough people complain and push back nothing will change. I have gone from weekly orders to basically ordering once every couple of months if I really can't get it anywhere else, or if I know with Meili/Speedaf of 40 - 60% it will still be cheaper than somewhere else.
