Chery launches Q electric hatchback to take on Dolphin Surf and Geely E2

Its definitely not an ugly car from those photos, and at 340km range, it would tick the box for 95% of people really.

You don't even get that resolution on a decent laptop, why the f**k add this to a car?!?!
Please stop making cars with f**ing tablets in them, the planned Slate truck from Amazon is a decent example of what -some- folks like myself would like to see in cheap EV's before I ever pull the trigger. Bring your own screen, or, not needing a screen at all would be great.
Simplify, simplify, simplify, and focus on reliability and repairability.

Get rid of the unnecessary hard to repair and expensive to replace flashy tech that depreciates the crap out of it immediately, add V2G for people like me who work at home and see the value in a car that can also shave over R100K off of what it would have taken to get a LiFe battery pack to power my home for 3+ days.

If you're purely into johnson-measuring then the Chery is the "winner".

Geely EX2: Features a 14.6-inch HD central infotainment screen paired with an 8.8-inch LCD driver cluster.
Chery Q: Equipped with a 15.6-inch central 2.5K display running a Snapdragon 8155 processor, alongside an 8.8-inch digital instrument panel.
Dongfeng Box: Utilizes a 12.8-inch floating infotainment screen paired with a compact 5.0-inch LCD driver display.

I've got zero issues with tablet screens in cars, as long as they have an enforced/locked bottom row with shortcut controls and don't require you going back and forth. BYD have got that perfectly sorted.

this, but but but, remember they HAVE to sell you gigantic touch screens and tech that gets old and breaks fast,
after all its chinese they have to keep the latest tech for the fancier options

an EV is actually hilariously simple machine, they just add all the trash to justify the pricetag, over a Kwid /i10

not the real test will be if a car rental puts in a order for a few of these.

When the mini cooper was first relaunched with the facelift way back in like 2004ish - the cooper S had a 0-60 time of 8.7s - I only remember cause I had a mate with one and we lived in the east rand, so it was tested, a lot.

I can promise you, that 9.1 won't feel slow.

I know it won't, but my first thought was that my car does better, and the one thing that pops into my head when it comes to electric cars is the 0-100 time. Sauron is right though, things have to change if manufacturers want to sell more electric vehicles

The acceleration curve between EV and ICE is quite different. From 0-60, or maybe even 0-80, they feel like little rockets because of the instant torque and 1 gear layout. It is above these speeds where EV's start to struggle to get up to speed.
Even in gear acceleration is quite different.
At least that has been my experience between all the EV's I have owned/driven.
