Just because Amazon and StarLink both put have LEO satellites doesn't mean they are comparable. StarLink has 8500 in orbir and Amazon only 400.

So Amazon can help a farmer in the Kalahari do IoT. StarLink gives him HD video.

StarLink can give businesses in the cities redundancy independent of the fibre network. Amazon Leo will just be swamped when the fibre goes out.

The fibre operators are **** scared that StarLink will kill their monopolies. Amazon Leo doesn't have the bandwidth to threaten them..

I understand rewarding hard work and innovation and all that, but the capitalist world must have limits.

I don't think Richemont has any stores in SA. And South African tourists buying their stuff in other countries are a rounding error.

Cadres prefer LVMH's brands: Louis Vitton, Moet champagne etc.

Yup... it's all about protecting monopolies.
Always will be, that's especially how it is in SA. SA companies and businesspeople hate competition, they take it personally.

I bet Hezbollah and the IRGC also paid the "entrance fees" to be allowed to operate quietly in SA.

Sorry but the two doesn't even begin to compare. This is just more proof of the collusion in SA allowing one or two companies to hog the market and not a real achievement.

It takes a bit of time to get them up there. In a short space of time they will be equivalent.

Yup, you are right, and now BroadMedia has got its LLM ready to churn out tons of articles on this guy, his association with crappy sat internet and how it's "so good for SA" and Elawn sux, and Starlink is BAD
