I haven't read Emily Wilson's version but I sure The Guilded was referring to the actual movie. I did not watch the movie as yet but I am planning to.

Who said you were obligated to see it? I do think it's a fair question to ask if some one has actually watched the movie that they claim is woke trash.

Don't disagree with that, rather questioning the ludicrously smooth brained motivation many people are taking to not go watch it because of their "principles" without even making any effort at all to really investigate what it's about.

If you ask most of the anti-woke brigade who else is even in the movie they won't be able to tell you...never mind asking what the movie is even about.

The problem is the (mindless) band wagon.

And it's the very same people who will throw "critical thinking" at you in the very next conversation while applying none.

Well, because at least we know from the source material what Helen of Troy is supposed to look like - that seems to be a pretty big detail to get wrong.

Then, there is also all the really weak dialogue that I have seen in the previews. I am normally a pretty big Nolan fanboy, but based on the previews, I am not convinced this is going to be of his best works. I have no interest in the movie after seeing the previews. its giving me serious Galdiator 2 vibes - and that was two and half wasted hours I will never get back.

Helen of Troy is a pretty well known cultural figure. Anyone with even a remote interest in greek literature, history and culture, would know straight away a black women make no sense in that role.

Project Hail Mary was also good.... so unless your ages is in months, then no, not the first good movie this year.

Then there is Spiderman: Brand New Day (next weekend) and Dune Part 3 (December) and those will be good too.

Watched it, it's good and gritty, a good movie, not a fun movie.

The Helen of Troy character has 7 minutes and 50 seconds (I went and looked it up) screentime in the 173 minute movie, and that is screentime where she is somewhere in the shot, not even a main character in scene or speaking, it is an insignificant role to get worked up over.

Woke nonsense like Snow White will fail, on the female Ghostbuster and whenever other woke nonsense was also there, this is not woke nonsense so not failing.

The two "woke" characters the right went on about have very small amount of screentime.

Might be the case. But then you have to ask, for such an insignificant character, why make such a controversial casting choice?

Also, why is it gritty? The oddesy is meant to be an adventure, not a gritty, moody war story.

Also, if it’s as good as you say it is, the trailers aren’t doing it any justice. The trailers show a bunch of flat dialogue and formulaic scenes. Like I said previously, they are giving Gladiator 2 vibes. Now, anyone who thinks Gladiator 2 was a good movie is entitled to their opinion, but it was not to my taste.
 
And with new Spiderman coming in a week and Avengers Doomday in December this might be a great year for Ster Kinekor...

Ugh! Superhero fatigue, I stopped watching any superhero crap some time ago, really not interested, besides I'm tired of seeing that ugly Zendaya bitch in everything . . . the **** is in Dune part 3 :sick:

Yeah, watching the cyclops eat some of your men and all your men dying in various ways and being unable to get home is high adventure, maybe the Elon Musk Odyssey will be more to your liking.

The trailers are meh indeed. There are movies have great trailers that suck and the other way around too.
