Cool Ideas Fibre ISP – Feedback Thread 7

It started just after 20h00. Suddenly, been working 100% the entire day.

I just rebooted everything this side, just to double check. Problem persists.

100% same symptoms as me. Mine maybe started a little sooner, was playing Apex with a friend all was fine then it hit me and i asked her (also CT) if she had it to rule out the server and she does not.

Logged a ticket my side with tests

Experiencing massive lag in wow currently. 1400ms on OpenServe

Edit we’re on 3000ms now. What is going on

Seems to be clearing up for the most part.
We will have to investigate the peak issue further
Is this in general or just regarding the WoW comments made? I submitted a ticket for my line loss but it wasn't present on all my traceroutes like when i tested to queen or uktest it never showed

The site's fibre coverage checker has stopped working. Yesterday it was still working and today it somehow can't pick up fiber in my super modern and fancy apartment complex in Paulshof. I have fiber in my unit already but I'm unable to place the urgent order I need to place today since my cancelled Rain5G (due to poor signal in my unit) will stop tomorrow.

Please can someone help me. I was just waiting for my salary to clear and now I am unable to place the order.

Well your iperf tests were to JHB, which showed some loss at the time, however from what I saw on my monitoring, this was isolated to Lisbon IPT, maybe De-CIX as well.

So your tests indicated a local issue as well as the additional international issue at the time.

But if the Iperf test was via WiFi, then I would t be too concerned about a local issue, as it could have just been wireless .

I did both wireless and cable and saw the same results. I did the wireless to rule out my ethernet cable

My Apex connection was going via Amazon from local as well so would rule out the international problem

Yep then it seems you had a seperate issue, but an issue nonetheless. Since it also happened the other night as well, a ticket to Vumatel may need to be logged after support completes their checks.

I never mentioned it in my ticket since i was not sure how to but can this possibly be compared to mack_again report. I know Table View and Panorama link together somewhere since another member from that area and i had packet loss issues always at the same times and they both resolved when Vuma did maintenance in our area.

From Mack's traces looks like it also started from fibre network side

Its possible, but the MTR's both of you shared diddnt indicate a fibre issue, but instead the 1299 issue mentioned last night.
Your issue is based off of the Iperf loss you observed, which was odd as I would have expected loss on the MTR as well.

I see you have ICMP enabled, so will monitor from my end as well tonight
@mack_again , feel free to share your IP via PM as well (ICMP enabled as well please)

Thanks, i could only replicate it on some MTR's, when i tried an Amazon direct testing IP it was fine but in game i had 10-15% loss.

Its a bit of a head scratcher, Sunday i had a problem and then last night. Nothing has changed either network wise inside the house.

Yeah I included your Iperfs from Sunday on your ticket as well,
It is a head scratcher indeed

@CoolEscalator please escalate #COOL-20260724-2735513

My Century City Connect/ThinkSpeed ONT has a red PON/LOS fault. The router is also offline. I’ve power-cycled both the ONT and router, and the issue persists. Please test the line and escalate the fault to Thinkspeed

HI there, thank you for reaching out,
Unfortunately I can't escalate if the fault is still within the SLA period, however I see that your connection is back up, and our team has confirmed this with you over the phone as well.

Might have been a brief outage in the area.

Is there some way to get faster speeds for Steam downloads on local servers? When I set my Steam download region to Cape Town it maxes out at like 340Mbps. If I set it to Portugal then it's does like 900Mbps.

Do you use CISP's DNS or another DNS?
I know that recently they have setup a valve/steam cache and when you are downloading if you open resource monitor it should pull the content from 154.0.5.124 / 2c0f:f9a8:1::2:4 or whatever cache1-jnb-cool.steamcontent.com points to.

I could be wrong but I dont think there are any steam servers in CPT even though CPT is an option on the UI.
