Yep, with no Ground stations, the solution cant scale up on users.Doesn't really matter how many Starlink satellites are in orbit if they can't operate in SA.
Rain didn't work for us from Day OneExpecting the same thing. Works great for 3-months and then absolute crap
Well, if Starlink is not in SA then I guess he is not wrong.Lol 10 000 vs 400 satellites. Amazon is farting in a thunderstorm.
In June 2026. Having read how Starlink brings the internet to rural areas, I was surpised at slow and intermittent it was in rural Zambia. Just my experience. In fairness, I need to add that I met someone in the sticks who had signed up for a modem/router package and said it was good. But she was paying a lot for it, about ZAR2,500 a month, I think. When was this?
How slow and how intermittent? How can it be 300mbps in South Africa? Maybe the satellites there are congested because there are too many users or the interconnections there just suck?In June 2026. What other option did you have to connect to the internet if starlink wasnt working? In June 2026. What is the alternative.Starlink this, Starlink that. Having experienced Starlink in Zambia for 3 weeks the bar is low.
For me, there wasn't. I was connecting onto game lodge networks. Of course, it was far better - at least it was mostly there - than trying to use the internet in the Kalahari Gemsbok Park or Kruger Park! Well, there you go. I have no idea what was used. It could well be the equipment used. Just my experience.Let me guess, gen 2 dish and default router?
Quickly fixed - enable pass through and use your own Router. Problem solved. Gen 3 and higher fixed the router issues.
I was getting 300mbps from South Africa while routing via Zambia.
What speeds did you get?Well, there you go. I have no idea what was used. It could well be the equipment used. Just my experience.
