Cape Town takes regulations for electric fencing far further than the national regulations

Another example of the wonderful, permit crazy CoCT and the DA working for you!

I am amazed the City officials managed to get the SAPS to actually take action on this - the DA loves telling us how tough they have it getting the SAPS to do their jobs…

Freedom Front Plus will never require a permit to build a sand castle.

I'm sure DA voters are growing tired of the DA, so they are the next logical choice.

Yeah, my comment was tongue in cheek really.

I do doubt whether the FF+ has wide enough appeal though and also Renaldo and his endless outrage and moaning is unappealing.

Having said that, I expect that they will show some continued growth for a while as I completely agree that people are increasingly peeved with the DA.

Yeah, I never watch any Renaldo videos. People have had enough of commie DA which is why FF+ centre right common sense policies will get wider appeal. The whole world is shifting right to common sense.

There was widespread severe damage to fences and walls due to the big storm in CT two months ago. An exceptional event, made worse by bluegum trees near the fence. I was able to make temporary repairs, but retensioning the strands and springs is a skilled art form...

These work well and are easy to use, turn the thing until the required tension achieved.

Thanks for the advice guys, but we have a 320m perimeter, and a span gap of 30 meters in places. Retensioning is above my paygrade, so I do the temporary repairs until the experts come. The span gap does need to be reduced (posted earlier), but that's for the next inspection/upgrade in 3 years time (or until the next big storm).

Where we walk with our dogs and kids, its a beautiful walking paths along rivers and gardens, but at least half the properties on either side of the walk have electric fences down to ground level. I get the safety concern, and joburg is another level, but it sucks since need to be so careful and have seen animals getting shocked (cats, dogs without leashes). like a prison yard..
This is a freaking third world criminally run rape capital country. Get on with the times!

You are very much correct.
In Bellville, Cape Town, where I live, the city has just about abandoned us to fend for ourselves. Theres been a massive influx of illegal student accommodation, brothels, prostitution, drug dealing, vagrants, worse and worse crime, and gangsters.
Recently in the little suburb I stay in, there were several break-ins, several muggins, an alleged rape, and 2 hijackings. There has also been several cases of intimidation by gangsters towards residents.

With that, we still have large piles of storm debris from the 11 May storm which has still to be collected.

I have several strings to the city and the ward councillor, begging for assistance. All mails have been ignored with 0 response, except from the Subcouncil 6 department confirming a date for traffic calming measures, which were approved 3 years ago and residents were advised they would be installed last financial year, which still hasnt happened, even though a resident was killed by a speeding car.

We have also battled with vagrants at several properties which have been abandoned. I have a list of 40+ calls to Law Enforcement, not 1 was responded to.

The only time we got action was when I got hold of our FF+ ward candidate. He was in the area the following day doing a walk through to see the state. Within a matter of hours, services started arriving. Law Enforcement was there, the city came to clean some of the parks and spaces, etc.

All while our DA ward councillor is completely non-existent and doesnt respond to residents.
I saw her on Friday though, she swung by for a photo opportunity with the Oakdale NHW who had an event with Afriforum. She promptly disappeared after the photo was taken.

She has been the main reason I will not support the DA again.

Don't blame you at all, how frustrating.

I say this having been an avid DA supporter for many years.

We bought the house just under 2 years ago, we are now planning to put it on the market in the coming year. The area wasnt like this when we bough it, it went into rapid decline over the last 12 months.

Residents have been begging for intervention during the last 12 months. Theres even been media coverage.

An electric fence may not be energised below 1.5m. What you are seeing is the low-voltage wires, linked to alarm only.

GHL loves the refugees. He even builds parks and creches and stuff for them on stolen land expecting them to vote for DA or something when in reality, DA only get 10% from last byelection. I used to come holiday every year from dbn but didn't go for about 10 years, wow what a change, big bay is like north beach dbn on new year, hobos everywhere, everyone complaining about crime.
